Coming to an end – a great first office experience

The Summary

As my time here in Riga is coming to an end – here’s my very last blog post about my trip and the experience 🙂 Over the course of two weeks, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at 1NCE in the beautiful city of Riga.

What I learned – apart from tech

From the moment I stepped into the office, I was warmly welcomed by the entire team, and this positive atmosphere persisted throughout my entire time at the company. As a trainee, I was shown various aspects of the telecoms industry, delving into the core network functionality, company IT, data analytics, customer support, and so much more. Besides that, I could help the team with mostly Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.

Beyond the technical knowledge I gained, I also discovered valuable insights into working in IT and also improved other generally vital things – such as communication and collaboration. This almost feels like the most important part of it. And I also had the opportunity to explore Riga’s culture outside the office.

I stayed in a dormitory-like Airbnb, situated in the city center on Lāčplēša iela – about 20 minutes by tram to the office. The apartment and the location itself were super convenient. I also really liked the “Daily” cafeteria – where we ate lunch each and every day.

Huge thanks to everybody!

Once again, I want to thank everybody for making this possible – including everyone in the office. Special thanks to Vadim, Normunds, Roberts, Uldis, Kristaps, Dainis, Renaud, Juris, Jekaterina, and Jevgenija for hosting me – and, most importantly – huge thanks to Jans, Ivo, and Rene for making all of this possible. I’m sure I’ll never forget these two weeks and all the things I’ve learned.
