Finding IKEA

I went to IKEA today, looking for a specific product. According to the IKEA app, it was “available.” On the floor, I couldn’t find a single employee – just touchscreens labeled “Product Finder.” Perfect, I thought. Only… all they did was tell me how many items were in stock and which floor they were on.

It can’t be that hard to build an arrow that actually points me in the right direction – or, better yet, a live arrow in the app that uses the iPhones gyroscope sensors to analyze the direction the user is walking towards.

The catch? IKEA wants people to browse.

If we really wanted to get people to their items as fast as possible, we’d turn the store into an Amazon warehouse.
