This time I’m writing while still sitting in the office, figured the big monitor comes in quite handy. Today, I got the opportunity to join Kristaps and by working on real tickets I could see how the internal software support within 1NCE works.
The Ticket Manager
We are using the ITSD Ticket Manager on “service-desk.1nce.com”, as the internal ticket issuing system. Kristaps showed me in-detail how to onboard a laptop and then I got to onboard two laptops, one Windows and one Mac, by reinstalling the OS and connecting them with the company account and system. That went pretty straightforward, and learning how to manage all the company devices in Microsoft Intune was interesting. I noticed that the setup process was way easier on Windows PCs than on Macs, which makes sense obviously because we’re using a Microsoft product for management. ????
After having had the daily internal team Teams meeting with colleagues from Germany, Krsitaps showed me the Apple Business Manager, which is a tool that we use when buying Macs for the company. It helps us to enroll and configure them remotely. I really enjoyed my day and I can’t wait to learn more – tomorrow with Renaud 🙂
My Chat with Dainis about Frontend
PS. had a super interesting chat with Dainis (frontend team) about his journey (professional) and stuff he advises me to watch out for and do/not do. Basically, studying (anything, but let’s take computer science as an example) just to simply having studied isn’t enough. You need to have a purpose behind it. As always, WHY? is the question. To find out what I’m passionate about, I should continue building actual projects and see what part of the development is most fun for me – then dig deeper into that topic. Dainis also told me lots about Hackathons and Gamejams, a great way to motivate oneself to build something. I even got shown a project he built, a funny “That’s What She Said” game. Loved his advice! Also showed me front-end stuff the team is currently working on.
