Getting Started
Hey everyone, welcome to this blog post! I’m super excited to share with you my first internship experience at 1NCE in Riga, Latvia. It’s been a blast so far and I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
Yesterday was my first day and I got introduced to the overall process of the internship and got to know the office and the people. Still can’t believe I’m actually here – actually meeting Jans after lots of email back-and-forth conversation. He gave me a nice summary of all the processes in the TELCO company and what 1NCE is currently building. I am all set with my company mail, computer, and access card! Everyone is super friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome. The office is really cool, it has a lot of open space, natural light, and plants. They also have a nice little kitchen with a coffee machine!

EagleEye and Network Probes
Today, I joined a team called “EagleEye”, which develops both the hardware and the software for network probes at 1NCE. Network probes are devices that monitor the quality and performance of cellular networks, consisting of a Raspberry Pi, a modem, and an antenna.
I got introduced to both the hardware and software aspects of the network probes and even got the ability to assemble one by myself. That was really fun, I learned a lot about how the probes work and how they communicate with the modems. The modem’s functions are controlled by AT commands, simple text commands.
